I’m a PhD student interested in a range of interconnected issues revolving around sustainability and justice.
These include social-ecological systems, the role of science in policy, community consultation, and global-local linkages, broadly conceived.
My thesis focuses on synthesizing social and ecological knowledge to inform various approaches to sustainable development. My case study regions are the Mt. Carmel UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, in northern Israel and the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
My work is part of this group’s wider ‘BC Coastal Ecosystem Services’ (BCCES) project.
I am being co-supervised by Dr. Kai Chan, Tier 2 Canada Research Chair, and Dr. Terre Satterfield, both professors at UBC’s Institute for Resources, Enviornment and Sustainability (IRES).
